Book Review: True Singapore Ghost Stories

For fans of horror stories like me, it's just not enough to only watch horror movies. I would also read about them.

Just for fun, you know. Don't take it seriously. It's not that I want to find the ghosts but just that I would like to know what other people had experienced and what they have to share with us.

So, I found this book entitled True Singapore Ghost Stories edited by Russell Lee.

Haa, why is it edited and not written by him? Because it is actually a collection of stories that readers write and send to him. So, Russell Lee and a team of ghost writers would collect and edit the stories and publish them.

For me, this book is unique because it is about real encounters with ghosts and spirits! Of course you can say there may be people who created the story and it is not true at all. That is why you have to read with an open mind and make sure you have the knowledge of what to believe and what not to believe.

One more, you have to bear in mind that satans and genies will appear according to our beliefs. Can you see how Western ghosts and Malay ghosts differ? This is because they will appear following our beliefs and imagination!

So, my advice, don't imagine too much. These ghosts only like to tease with us. And don't disturb them. Then, we will live in peace.

Oh, this True Singapore Ghost Stories actually have 21 series already. I only have some of them but I'll get the rest soon. Though the title is Singapore, but there are many stories revolving around Malaysia too.

It is written fully in English but of course not the formal English. Just our Singaporean and Malaysian English.

Movie Review: I Am Number Four

Honestly, I wasn't interested in this movie when I watched the trailer

BUT then I watched this movie out of boredom.

AND

I think this movie is quite good!

Not bad

(well, maybe because I was bored and I was in the mood to watch a movie)

BUT seriously, it did attract my attention...

So, it's worth it to watch

I AM NUMBER FOUR

Just that it has typical storyline. At first, the hero didn't know what was his power. Then, he discovered his power and found a girlfriend and began to rebel to his protector. Means that he was tired to follow to all the rules that he abode since he was a child. Then, just at that time, the bad people came and he lost his protector. blablabla...

In conclusion, you have to watch the movie to know the story hahaha...

Rating: 6.5/10

psst...starting from now, I'll rate movies out of 10. It is easier than using 5...

And I have to agree, some people do not have the same taste for movies.

So, feel free to critic.

Movie Review: Red Riding Hood

Just watched "Red Riding Hood" and what can I say?

WOW!

This is what we call a movie. Very good story line.

Usually I would skip certain scenes when the story becomes boring but this one,

I didn't skip it!

Plus, there are two handsome actors and a beautiful actress too...

This is a must see movie (at least for someone like me ^__^)

Movie Review: Paranormal Activity 1 & 2

Someone suggested to me to watch this movie called Paranormal Activity and I did! In fact, I watched two series of it and I read that there will be a third one this coming October...well, can't wait to watch it!

Overall, the starting for both episodes is quite boring. Well, it's because I was waiting for the ghost to come out...hehehe...

Then, when the paranormal activities started to take place, then, it started to quite scare me because there are many unexpected things happened. I really thought that all of these things happen...I mean, the camera is rolling when there is a real ghost!

But, when I read about it in Wikipedia, what I understand, it is directed. So, it is made...but seriously, when you watched it, you will believe it actually happened!

Well, maybe there are certain things that I don't really feel good about this story.

First, they attempt to differentiate between ghost and demon. It is said, ghost is more human while demon is not human at all...can you believe that? For me, demon and ghost are still the same. They are satans or genies. Now, don't say there are good and evil genies...

Then, I can see clearly that they seem to say (indirectly) that religion can't help to stop those 'demons'. In this case, it's Christian. Well, just watch it and you will see one scene where someone burned the Cross.

Whatever it is, it's still entertaining for horror movie lovers. Ratings: 4

Book Review - Haunting Stories

Before I write anything, I would like to apologise to the author of this book because this is what I truly feel.

I just finished reading this book entitled "Haunting Stories: 23 True Life Encounters in Singapore and Malaysia" written by Khadijah Moore.

Yep, I'm one of the dumb people who love to read supernatural, ghost and all those wicked books. It's my interest, I just can't help it...^__^

Well, back to the main point. What I'm trying to say is, this book is not interesting at all. From 10 points, I would rate this book at 5 or maybe below. Why? There are many reasons behind it.

First of all, each story is too lengthy although the actual plot is very short. Sometimes, I feel that unnecessary points are also included. Yes, I do appreciate the author's intention to provide knowledge while readers are reading but because of too much information, the excitement has gone completely off.

Moreover, the author is not originally Malay. So, there are several terms and facts, that as far as my knowledge is applicable, they are wrongly written and explained.

Overall, I still think that the stories are priceless. It's just the way of writing that should be....erm...more of a storybook? Well, you complete it yourself.
